Words from a friend of mine, Courage Coach and Professional Speaker...Cate Gibson. This post is about two of my favourite Kate's. Or make that, Cate's?
Cate is my neighbour. She knocked on my door, actually looking for a wedding manicure, and from that day onwards we've been friends. I cannot express to you how much I adore this woman. She is driven, helpful, caring, honest, intuitive (extremely!) and inspiring. Do any of you have a friend like this? If so, count your lucky stars~! For example...a recent email letter to me from Cate read in it's opening line, "I hope your heart is right today." Cate has a way of brightening things up. I really appreciate her, like a fine cheese, or a fine wine! She is to be cherished. :) Find her at www.powerfuljourney.com and have a look. (We are still working on getting her to publish a blog; but when you are holding retreats, fire-walking, consulting, and just being driven to help others such as Cate is, well blogging takes a backseat. That is what winter months are for however Cate, hint hint!)
Engagement wine, July 2008. Ruth's Chris Steak House, for a celebratory dinner, the night we became engaged.
Now on to reading...fall is here. More time indoors. Fall leads to winter which means I'll be cosied up by the fire with a stack of good reads. I need suggestions to put on my book list. Feel free to recommend your personal favourites...and I will suggest to you in my next post some of mine. Books+wine=A nice cold season. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!
Right now on the nightstand...still crispy from her Amazon packaging, a book to behold...Kate; the woman who would be Hepburn, by William J. Mann. Should prove to be intriguing.
In closing, I hope YOUR heart is right today, as well. xo
I do have a friend like Cate, and words cannot express how much I treasure her presence in my life.
Lovely pic of the engagement wine. :) I love Ruth's Chris.
Katherine Hepburn was always such a fascinating person in so many ways. I've no doubt that will be a great read.

Right as rain.
For your winter curl-up-by-the-fire reading I suggest (if you haven't read it already) The World According To Garp, if you like a rattling good story.
Sylvia Townsend Warner's Kingdom Of Elfin is a collection of fairy tales like none other. It's out of print but you might still be able to get a used copy at Amazon, where I got mine. Get a hardcover if you can... it's a keeper.

If my heart wasn't right before, it is NOW...after reading this post. I want to buy one of those signs that say "Let It Snow" and put it on my front walk here in Miami. Maybe the gods will see it and humor me. ;)
As for red wine and books, I'm with you. Nothing spells winter like fine vino tinto y libros...and a brrr 70 degrees in South Florida! I can't wait for that winter breeze to roll in sometime in December.
Have a happy hump day, amiga! ;)

I've got that book Kate too! I think it will make the perfect Fall/Winter read - I think I'll start it tonight! As to my heart being right...not sure it is yet but I think its getting there.

Oh this IS the time for red wine and books, isn't it? Well, I've recently read Chocolat and it's sequel, The Girl with No Shadow by Joanne Harris. It's full of magic and chocolate and mystery and romance and gypsy spirits and... Well, I couldn't get enough of Joanne Harris's books and I still haven't returned Chocolat to the library... It has me thinking of new art projects and hot chocolate recipes, too. Anyway, those are two book suggestions that I think would be PERFECT for October.

Wine, a good book, chilly weather ALWAYS make for a great afternoon or evening- you got that right!
My heart is thankfully right today!
My current read is: The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent.

My heart couldn't be any more right today. Life is very, very good.
I love fall/winter. I find myself spending more time outside this time of year. Getting all bundled up and going for walks under a canopy of red and gold.
Winter is the best time for reading. For inspiration I recommend The Way of the Wizard by Deepak Chopra. Also, try Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. Although I haven't read it yet I have heard nothing but good things. The title reminds me of you.
By the way, I do have a friend like that and it's you...Happy reading!

Hi Gillian! So funny but I had just finished watching Emma and now I read you writing about treasured friendships. I think life is telling me to connect with friends I haven't been that in touch with.
The wine is lovely..just tempting:) We don't have fall here in Manila, but up north in the cool mountains where we go for short vacations, somehow we get an idea of it. My friends in Canada send me leaves when the season sets in:)

The wine looks so good. Fall is the time to snuggle up with a warm drink and inviting books. Have you read The Red Tent?

A friend like Kate is a treasure. You two are fortunate to have one another Gillian!! Good energy seems to manifest around like minded souls!
Thank you for all of your supportive words...for being here as my husband and I have entered into this new chapter of life.
I'm glad to report that we are already very happy!
